Canadian Open Wrap Up - So Close!

Canadian Open Wrap Up - So Close!
We nearly pulled off another massive coup in yesterday's final round of the RBC Canadian Open.

Our recommended bet Steve Wheatcroft at $800, opened with a fine 68, but his second round 77 nearly saw him miss the cut. He stormed back into the contest with a best score of the day 64 and a real chance.

Playing with the world's current best player Dustin Johnson he started very well and at the ninth he was running 2nd. Three good pars kept him in the running including two very good par saving putts of 10 feet (3m) and 15 feet (5m).

At 13 he two putted for a birdie now $3.50 and at 14 he holed a very good 25' sidehiller for another and got to a 1 shot lead and a price of $1.80. After a solid par at 15 and the falling away of Johnson and Brandt Snedeker, his price came down to $1.39 to lay.

Smart bettors at this stage having followed our tips would have 0.1 unit on or say $8000 to $100. Some savvy punters got $880 price!

To lay $5000 to $2000 on at this stage would have seen a nett guaranteed profit of $5000 (50 units) if he lost or $6000 (60 units) if Wheatcroft won!

He was faced with a short par 5, a short par 4 and the last a tricky but reachable par 5 to win. Jhonattan Vegas had birdied the last three to get to 12 under two putting both par fives. The market expected him to do it.

Wheatcroft drove beautifully on all three holes. On 16 he just missed the green into the right hand bunker, but shortsided himself and parred easily. On 17 with 85 yards to go (his wife could have got it on) dumped it into an embedded lie in the front trap and after a good save made a bogey 5. On 18 with a 5 iron in his hand, but water on the right, he just missed the green into the left hand bunker, but the ball found a good lie and plenty of green to work with. Unfortunately (according to him) a bare lie caused his bunker shot to bounce over the green and into the water! Bad luck for our straight out punters.

However, a number of observations. Despite the market's view it is never over until the trophy is presented and arbitraging possibilities in golf betting are incredible. The time that it takes for a player to play a hole means that any savvy punter has from two miniutes to ten minutes to crush in opportunities like those above $800 into $1.39!

Our new App which is under development will allow us to send out our arbitraging advice in time to make these kind of plays.

With Jon Curran in a playoff at $880, (into $1.78) in the Memorial, Colt Knost running third at $610 (into $5) and Wheatcroft at $800 (into $1.39), we can lock in an annual profit without tipping a long priced winner. The fact that we have actually tipped a long priced winner (Brian Stuard $1000, Zurich Classic) demonstrates the golf betting with Sport Betting Professionals can be very profitable and a lot of fun!
