Cox Plate thoughts from our panel of racing experts

Cox Plate thoughts from our panel of racing experts
Last week for the Caulfield Cup, Gary and Geoff both found the winner Jameka on top, whilst Dean had Scottish on top and Jameka as a saver, and they ran 1-2.

Let's look at their thoughts on the mouth watering Winx v Hartnell Cox Plate clash for $3m on Saturday.

Dean (Dean's Tips)

I think Hartnell can beat Winx. She's obviously a champion mare, but Hartnell is absolutely low flying. Beat the dominant Caulfield Cup winner last start by 3L giving it 3kg. I was told by O'Shea stable insiders last year that Hartnell was the best horse in Australia. It appeared nonsense the way the horse campaigned this time last year, but they have clearly now found the key to him, and the claim will be put to the test tomorrow. I expect them to quinella the race, but won't win any medals for that. I see Yankee Rose and Vadamos filling 3rd and 4th spot. Not a race I'm overly keen to invest in, but if I do it will likely be Hartnell straight out.

Dean's Tips have produced an industry leading 254.53 units profit at 19.6% POT so far in 2016.

Gary (Gary's Ratings)

Winx rated $1.85 Just keeps winning. A super horse.

Hartnell rated $2.80 Improved this year so win would not surprise . Last start great win over Jameka and previous two runs fantastic. What a match race .

Vadamos $9.50 French horse who looks good but not probably up to top two.

Gary's Ratings since introduced in July have produced 67 units profit at 20.9% POT, a fantastic return in under 4 months

On Saturday Gary will have ratings for Moonee Valley races 7,8,9,10 and Quad, and weather permitting St Arnaud , Townsville and Gold Coast Ratings also .

His new edition of Race Pro Talk is now up at website and from this week at 11.30am Eastern Standard Time every Saturday a live facebook preview of the day's racing with a few tips from our experts will be on our facebook page .

Geoff (Pedigree Power)

Winx clearly on top. Has drawn to take perfect sit behind Hartnell and will be too strong. While Hartnell's form is excellent he has never been kept at 2000m this deep into a preparation. Like the chances of a few at longer prices to run into placings for the exotics those being Hauraki, Happy Clapper and Awesome Rock.

Our Pedigree Power service only started this month, and has already produced over 10 units of profit including $31 winner Amative on Wednesday.

John (NZ Tips)

Pace: Almost exactly par for a Cox Plate (a bit slower than last two years with no The Cleaner this year)

Map: Black Heart Bart, Hartnell, Winx, Vadamos, Happy Clapper, Yankee Rose, Awesome Rock, Hauraki, Lucia Valentina, Happy Trails

Selections: Winx is to Hartnell as Black Caviar was to Hay List. Yankee Rose is no Surround but could lob a place. How good is Vadamos? My raw rating has it 8th ranked but it’s in the market at around the same price as Yankee Rose so unsure, but more than handy from the looks of things. No prizes for putting Winx on top. She looks to get the gun run and the only danger is Hugh Bowman sitting too long before making his run and getting boxed in by those coming from the back down the side. Pretty much a no bet race

The NZ service has made 74.53 units profit so far in 2016 with a number of huge priced winners a hallmark of the service. A great way to start the morning with a few winners and a healthy profit before getting stuck into the Australian racing in the arvo.
