Sri Lanka vs Australia series wrap

From a betting point of view like all international cricket for this service it was quite lucrative, since inception we have bet 156.15u on international cricket for a return of 187.80u which is a very acceptable 20.3% POT. This series saw us hold a great record of 12-5 with 14.90 units profit at 91.7% POT!

Big collects included backing Sri Lanka in the second and third test matches at $3.89/$2.75 respectively as well as betting that no century would be scored in the second test at $7.

I actually came into this series with the opinion that the Australian team may be competitive but because there were plenty of warning signs around the side I started the series off slowly. That opinion QUICKLY changed and I advised I was backing Sri Lanka at $8 for a trade via my Twitter handle when they were just a handful of runs behind the Australians in the second innings.

On the topic of trading I do try to trade whenever possible and the third test match was one of these times, considering that the first match lost 5 sessions due to rain and the second was won inside three days I was hard against the draw from ball one. With all three results trading very low Australia $1.30’s the Draw $1.50’s and Sri Lanka $1.70's this was a great test match to trade, that being said I made plenty of mistakes throughout the test but managed to make close to 10u.

Some of the mistakes I made during the test are listed below

-I was against the draw too hard too early which resulted in losing other opportunities to trade in play.

-I failed to accept that Angelo Mathews is not an aggressive captain and therefore would not declare late day 4

Simple mistakes like that costed me from making this into one of the tests to remember, on the back of those mistakes I did make a few good calls as listed below.

-Herath comes on Lay the Australians, he was so prolific in this series and as the man himself said the Australian batsman just didn’t have a plan of attack against him.

-When Angelo didn’t declare in the evening of Day 4 every single run the Sri Lankans made would wind out Australia’s price so I laid the Australians when Starc wasn’t bowling as a wicket was likely and then backed them at a slightly higher price. This didn’t make a great deal of money for me but it reduced my liability on the draw so I could lay it again on Day 5 for a small amount.

On the back of some poor form in the IPL and CPL it was good to have a very profitable series that pushes this service back into profit. With a lot of One Day Internationals to come and a short test series between South Africa and New Zealand it’s a great time to be betting cricket.

Back tomorrow evening for bets on the first test match between South Africa and New Zealand.
