Dean Evans - Dean's Tips Review 8-14 Mar
Another nice week generating +10.1u profit at 41.5% POT.
On Monday from 3 races at Morphettville we had Good Idea win the Adelaide Cup for us at $20, whilst Milton Park ran 2nd beaten narrowly at $8.50.
On Friday we had one betting race and Miravalle charged home to win the Keith Nolan Classic impressively at $10.
On Saturday at Rosehill we bet in 5 races and made a profit on 4, missing a profit on the other race by a nose.
We backed Mirage Dancer at $31 and $4.40 the place and were stiff not to win. The horse was held up for a long way in the straight. If it had clear running throughout it would have won. At least we had a nice result with the place and were spot on with hot favourite Colette and many others in the race being unsuited by the firm track.
We then backed Hungry Heart and she was far too good. I was very confident on her and my only disappointment was pulling back the staking on her a little. Should have gone harder. Chris Waller has now won that race 6 of the past 7 years, all with fillies.
We backed Krone to win the Coolmore Classic and again the only frustration was that she was originally a 0.5u bet, but I pulled it back when the rain didn't come. It was the right move as she was a much bigger chance on the wet, but she's a mare in form and is flying wet or dry.
We nailed the next race with top bet I Am Superman winning at $9.50 ($12 BFSP) and Think It Over running 2nd at $20 in what would have been a bigger result. Again pleased we bet around false favourites Criaderas (Randwick horse) and Buffalo River (needs it wet) and got it spot on.
We backed Nudge at $14 in the last race each way and she got a bit too far back but charged home late and just missed 3rd by a head.
At Moonee Valley we bet into 3 races for 3 2nds.
Irish Flame ran 2nd beaten a head at $6 after copping a big bump in the straight which cost him the win.
Young Werther ran 2nd at $9.50 but Grandslam was too good in a big form reversal. Jamie Kah weaving her magic wand again there with a great front running ride.
In the All Star Mile when had a big crack at Russian Camelot and were again 2nd to Mugatoo who just relished the bog track a little bit better.
At the Gold Coast we had one bet and although didn't get a result I was happy with the bets. We bet against the 2 short priced favourites Miami Fleuiss & Kusikano who I potted and they were both unplaced, so it was the right type of race to bet in, we just didn't find the winner.
A +10.1u profit for the week, taking us to a +24.1u profit at 45.5% POT for the month.
Pleased that the detailed historical race profiling is leading us to betting consistently on the right races and finding the right horses in the big races.
