Flemington Review 11-Nov-17

Race 1: AAMI Maribyrnong Plate 1000m

Run Naan (1st) settled backed towards the rear and has hit the line powerfully to score, impressive debut. Encryption (2nd) battled on well, should not be a maiden for much longer. Belzella (3rd) sat on speed and fought on well, good debut. King (7th) was spruiked pre-race and has gone poorly.

Race 2: Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Plate 2000m

Oncidium Ruler (1st) had a nice run midfield on the rails, gaps appeared in the straight and has hit the line well to score. Knowable (2nd) sat just off the speed, gave a good kick, winner just too strong late. Have Plenty (3rd) is going well.

Race 3: Melbourne’s Own 3AW Trophy 1600m

Fastnet Tempest (1st) sat back towards the rear, travelled up to them under a hold, didn’t let down with a great turn of foot, just grinded to the line to fall in. Raw Impulse (2nd) didn’t have clear running the entire straight but probably had his chance to run down the winner late. Not much to say about the rest.

Race 4: Sensis Digital Trophy 1400m

Moher (1st) had a lovely run in transit, and has just got home, be careful following forward. Duke of Brunswick (2nd) ran on well to just miss, consistent type. Ruettiger (3rd) ran on strongly, was a typical flashing light run, be careful following as he struggles to win races. Lord Aspen (7th) never got a crack at them, the inside barrier didn’t suit, forgive. Lite’n in my Veins (11th) went poorly.

Race 5: Queen Elizabeth Stakes 2600m

Venguer Masque (1st) led, was headed in the straight and has fought back well, tough effort. Grey Lion (2nd) loomed and looked the winner, winner was too strong late, lost no admirers. Wheal Leasure (3rd) had the right run and ran on well.

Race 6: 7News Matriarch Stakes 2000m

Savapinski (1st) led and gave nothing else a chance, has won easily, a class above. Payroll (2nd) ran on well. Prompt Response (4th) had her chance. Tahanee (6th) pulled up with post race issues. Heavens Above (5th) ran on, hard to follow with her racing pattern.

Race 7: Darley Classic 1200m

Redzel (1st) was too speedy for them, great sprinter, clearly now the best in the country, is bulletproof. Terravista (2nd) ran well, loves it down the straight, be careful following forward. Impending (3rd) ran well. Chautauqua (4th) ran on well as always, his lack of early speed is making it too hard for him to make up the ground late. Vega Magic (7th) needs a spell.

Race 8: Emirates Stakes 2000m

Tosen Stardom (1st) settled towards the rear, didn’t find clear air until late in the straight, but when he did, he exploded, a class above, serious horse. Happy Clapper (2nd) and It’s Somewhat (3rd) both ran well. Folkswood (5th) was caught wide on speed and has battled on well. Cliff’s Edge (6th) sat on the speed and battled on well.

Race 9: Emirates Airline Handicap 1400m

Kentucky Breeze (1st) had a nice run and stayed out of trouble to get the job done. Muraaqeb (2nd) flew home late, typical flashing light run, will be overvalued by the market next start. Sircconi (3rd) sat on the speed and has battled on well, good run. Andaz (7th) had limited room in the straight, still think he has only gone OK. Tamasa (6th) should have won, never saw daylight, was bolting, tragedy beaten.
