We are running a Win a Melbourne Cup Runner For A Day Melbourne Cup Competition over the next 9 days.

This competition will be limited to current Active Recurring members of at least 1 Winning Edge Investments horse racing service. It's to reward our valued members and give you the opportunity to win a swathe of great prizes.

It is a game of skill competition, and so the winners of the
24 available prizes, including the Grand Prize, will be determined by the Top 24 finishers in a VRC Derby Day Tipping Competition run on Saturday November 1.

• The competition will involve selecting 1 horse in each of the 9 races on VRC Derby Day.
• If your selected horse runs in one of the top 3 positions in a race, we will allocate fantasy dividends to the competition participant.
• These dividends are calculated based on a $1 each way fantasy bet using the Victorian TAB tote odds.

The Grand Prize will be the opportunity to win
1% of the prizemoney Vauban earns in the $10 Million 2025 Melbourne Cup.

The Melbourne Cup winner receives $4.5 Million, but note this year that all 24 runners in the Melbourne Cup get prizemoney, with even the horse who runs last receiving $100,000 prizemoney.

Vauban was favourite in the 2023 Melbourne Cup, and was 3rd favourite in the 2024 Melbourne Cup, but in both races he was ridden poorly and paraded terribly, not acclimatising to the hot weather.

This year he has been trained locally by Gai Waterhouse, who has been adamant that he has been set for and is best suited for one race: The Melbourne Cup.

Vauban won the G3 Sky High Stakes over 2000m in his first 2025 Australian run after settling last, then was a very unlucky 3rd in the G1 2400m Tancred Stakes next start behind Dubai Honour when he arguably would have won had the rider stayed on the fence instead of being held up much of the straight. This prep he ran an excellent 3rd first up in the G2 Chelmsford Stakes, before totally unsuited being ridden on a hot speed in the G3 Kingston Town Stakes. He then got shuffled a long way back near last in the G1 Metropolitan over 2400m and flew home in restricted room the whole straight for a very close 5th despite carrying the topweight 8kg+ more than the top 3 home. If he had got clear running at the top of the straight he would have won.

He then ran in the Caulfield Cup on Saturday and Blake Shinn hopped off and said to just put a line through the run. After 6 races going the Sydney direction, he was on his Sydney leg the whole way around the tight Caulfield track with its 5 bends, and had to use up a lot of juice pushing forward and fighting with Deakin to get a spot for half the race, leaving him with nothing left when it mattered.

Blake Shinn post race was adamant that "the horse is flying in trackwork, the big Flemington track will suit him much better and he will win a big one".

We believe if he is ridden cold, with cover, then he is a big chance, and trainer, joceky & connections are still very optimistic about his winning chances in this year's Melbourne Cup.

Additionally, the Top 24 (one for every Melbourne Cup runner) finishers in the VRC Derby Day Tipping Competition, including the Grand Prize winner, will win a prize where we will pay for a Funescapes accommodation package for 1 room accommodation for a holiday for yourself, your partner, and in many cases up to 2 kids (under 12).

Terms & Conditions do apply, and the value differs depending on location chosen and nights booked, but the average prize value is estimated at AUD~$1,000 each (total combined value ~$24,000 AUD).
