Morphettville Parks Preview 21-Jul-18

Track – Currently Rated Soft 5

Rail – Out 9m 1000 – WP, 6m Remainder

Race 1: Sabois + Benchmark 82 Handicap 2400m

Thunder Cloud is flying, steps up to the 2400m for the first time which looks no concern, will go back from the barrier and should be hard to hold out late. Mongolian Wolf is going well enough, proven over the distance and gets a soft run in transit. The Willybe is proven over the distance and hard fit, should lead and give a good sight.

No betting interest here, staying out.

Race 2: Benchmark 82 Handicap 1400m

Savatag resumes coming off two trials, was good last prep, goes well first up and looks to get a soft lead here. Embecee Lil is a talented Mare, steps up to the 1400m for the first time this prep which suits and handles a soft track. Painte comes over from Victoria, only looks to be going OK, would need to improve here.

Tough race, staying out.

Race 3: Oaklands Plate 1400m

Poised to Strike has impressed me in both his career runs to date, showed a great turn of foot last start to put them away, meets a similar field here, step up to 1400m looks no concern, if Tourneur can find a position from the wide barrier, he will be very hard to hold out. Anthemoessa broke through to win her maiden last start at Wangaratta, would need to step up again here, maps well. Unfair Dismissal is going well but hard to see him turning the tables on Poised to Strike after last start.

2.5 units – Poised to Strike @ $2.80

Race 4: Sabois 3YO Benchmark 70 Handicap 1250m

Holy Freeze arrives here from the Weir camp, racing well and looks to find a winnable race here, should settle worse than midfield and will need luck. Modulate went well first up, if he can hold a position early from the barrier, will be strong late. Amberdi looks a Filly on the up for the astute Jaensch stable, should sit on the speed here and can give a sight.

Open race, no betting interest.

Race 5: Benchmark 64 Handicap 1000m

Fleeting Feeling resumes off a long break for the McEvoy stable after contesting Melbourne races in her first prep, has not trialled, big watch. Exalted Lauretta is an honest type, thought she was very plain last start, drops back to the 1000m here and maps well, should be amongst the finish. Akkacan continues to run well but is struggling to win, should be amongst the finish once again.

Many queries here, staying out.

Race 6: Sabois 3YO Benchmark 70 Handicap 1550m

Laure Me In looks a nice type on the up, dominant win last start, this looks tougher but now gets Kah back on board, can settle on the speed and give them something to catch. Casa De Lago comes here after contesting some nice races in Melbourne, will be back here and hitting the line strongly late. Captain Harry comes out of some nice races and can be a big improver here.

1.5 units – Laure Me In @ $4

Race 7: Benchmark 64 Handicap 1250m

Too Tuff Tara looks to be going only OK, this looks a touch easier to what she has been contesting but map looks a concern, seems unders. Autumn Street rarely wins but is racing well, finds a suitable race here, will be on speed and will give them something to catch. Bolt I Am and Just Kappy are both not the worst at odds.

Tough race, staying out.

Race 8: Benchmark 70 Handicap 1400m

Tan Tat Trusting was a dominant winner when resuming, finds another winnable race here and gets a massive positive jockey change, maps well and looks the one to beat. Its Time For Magic did a good job first up for the Clarken stable, maps well here, cam improve again. Vieira and Trogir both not the worst at odds.

2 units – Tan Tat Trusting @ $3.30
