Morphettville Parks Preview 27-Apr-19

Morphettville Parks Preview 27-Apr-19

Track – Currently Rated Good 4

Rail – MPKS Track True, Main Track +8m 1200 to WP,2m 2000 to 1800m, 4m Remainder Sectional 610 m.

Race 1: Breeders’ Stakes 1200m

We kick off the day with a race for the 2YO’s over the 1200m and Kooweerup is the current $3.20 favourite. Shifty Shamus looks the leader with Grand Scholar handy.

Blake Says: A race of minimal interest for me. Happy to watch and learn.

Lachlan Says: KOOWEERUP has been met with early support for the interstate visitor. Was a nice winner at Sandown and J.Kah takes the ride. No real interest betting wise for me in the baby events.

Race 2: 3YO BM 70 Handicap 1000m

Race for the 3YO’s over the sprint journey with Lassiter the current favourite at $2.70. Expecting an above average tempo here.

Blake Says: Lassiter was impressive on debut and the form out of the race has been good. This is tougher and dropping back in distance is a slight query. Don’t want to be taking sub $3 but not willing to bet against her. Staying out.

Lachlan Says: HEAVEN'S DEAL was well found in the market in a much tougher race than this last start. He knocked up in the worst part of the track but was only 4.8L away. This is much easier and has a good record at the track and trip. Nice each-way play.

Race 3: BM 70 Handicap 1400m

Race over the 1400m and its an open market with Gelignite Jack currently heading the market at $4.20. Left Hand Man can kick up to lead with Vegas Boulevard handy.

Blake Says: Tricky race and not one I’m keen to get involved in. Shrouded In Mist goes well fresh and trialled OK, can run well here but minimal confidence.

Lachlan Says: Tough race with many horses in excellent form. No betting interest with me and hard to push you into anything. Whatever SHROUDED MIST does she will improve on and might be worth marking down for runs further into the prep.

Race 4: BM 82 Handicap 1300m

We race over the 1300m here and Scottish Rogue heads the market at $3.10. Lucky Fish, Go The Journey and Prepare To Win will all be looking to be positive early.

Blake Says: Scottish Rogue had many favours last start when winning. Looks more pressure here up front and a good chance he gets crossed early. Debt Collector was good first up, got pushed very wide on the turn and worked through the line nicely. Looks suited here rising in distance 2nd up, should be able to settle a touch closer and prove hard to hold out late.

Lachlan Says: Hard to go past DEBT COLLECTOR here. Got too far back vs Gytrash last start. Ran the fastest late splits but the winner had the jump on him. Step up to the 1300m looks ideal and should be too good here. MICA LIL would want to show something more today or it might be time. Had Mares "2nd up syndrome" last start so happy to have a small play at a price but DEBT COLLECTOR is the main investment.

Race 5: BM 82 Handicap 1000m

We are over the sprint journey again here and it’s the talented Gytrash the current $2.25 favourite. Looks good pressure and expecting an above average tempo.

Blake Says: Gytrash was a very impressive winner first up. With his racing pattern, the price looks a touch short here but not willing to take him on. Staying out.

Lachlan Says: I have GYTRASH in this and will be hoping the star J.Kah can steer him home. Has come on well since the first up win and has bigger fish to fry this prep. Dom Tourneur can't ride due to suspension but we find a handy replacement. I won't be backing at the price. More just hoping he wins. EASY BEAST and ALL ABOUT NICCI should be in the firing line late.

Race 6: City Of Adelaide Handicap 1400m

One of the features of the 1400m and its Set To Sparkle currently heading the market at $2.90. Set To Sparkle should be able to work across and find the lead here.

Blake Says: Set To Sparkle had favours when winning last start and this is tougher but does set up well again and should get control on the speed. Hussybay looks an improver here, looked to just get outsprinted first up over the sprint journey but worked through the line nicely. Rises in distance here, should get a nice run just behind the speed and gets a big positive jockey change.

Lachlan Says: Raffle. Your guess is as good as mine. Good race albeit.

Race 7: H C Nitschke Stakes 1400m

Feature race of the day for the 3YO’s with Tahitian Dancer currently holding favouritism in an open market at $5. Lake District Girl, East Indiaman and Seberate will all be looking to go forward early.

Blake Says: Wide open race with a lot of interstate form lines. Happy to watch and learn.

Lachlan Says: ARRAY OF SUNSHINE has been the long odds move early. $91 to $31. Has been ultra impressive this time in but this is obviously 10xs harder. Happy to have something on ARISTOCRATIC MISS with the good gate and Vorster to ride. She's only 1 from 14 but has faced the best and the first up run was good.

Race 8: Chairman’s Stakes 2032m

Race for the stayers to end the day with Declarationofheart the current $3 favourite. Havana Heat can lead with Mint To Be and Mr Grizzlie handy.

Blake Says: Tough way to end the day. Declarationofheart looks the class runner coming out of some strong races but map looks a concern. Classic Weiwei has been very impressive this prep but must step up again. No betting interest.

Lachlan Says: Going with a rough one here with a little-known trainer. SPLASH SOME CASH. Had no luck at a crucial time but still found the line hard over 1800m last start. The trip looks ideal. $35 is a great price.
