Race 1: Hughes Limousines Handicap 1550m
Skillful Steps (1st) had a lovely run just behind the speed, got into the clear and let down strongly to win with ease. Modulate (2nd) had a nice run in transit, peeled out on the turn and hit the line well late. El Desperado (3rd) sat on the speed and battled on well enough in the straight.
Race 2: UBET Adelaide Cup Monday 12th March Handicap 2400m
Robocop (1st) settled towards the rear, looked to be struggling on the turn and picked up well late to score. I’m a Bluebagger (2nd) sat just off the speed, peeled out and hit the lead and looked the winner, bloused late. Zimbali (3rd) had to work early, sat outside the leader, and battled on well enough in the straight.
Race 3: Adelaide Festival of Racing 5-19 May Maiden Plate 1000m
M’ Lady (1st) sat on the speed, gave a good kick in the straight and toughed it out well late to score. It’s a Myth (2nd) was taken back early and then was forced to make a long sustained run wide before the turn, was given no chance and kept coming in the straight, big effort. Troublesome Lad (3rd) was heavily backed, had a lovely run in transit and didn’t offer much in the straight.
Race 4: Medallion Homes 3YO Maiden Plate 1300m
Charossa (1st) was well backed, led and kick clear in the straight to win with ease, can keep winning. Exalted Lauretta (2nd) had a nice run just off the speed, peeled out and hit the line well. Blue Morpho (3rd) had a lovely run in transit, hit the line well enough.
Race 5: Kym Searle’s 50th Celebration Handicap 1550m
Enki (1st) had a nice run in transit, sliced through to field in the straight and hit the line well late to score. Cavalry Gold (2nd) sat on the speed, let down well to hit the lead, winner just too strong late. Double Pockets (3rd) settled towards the rear, looked to be struggling around the turn, picked up strongly late to attack the line strongly.
Race 6: Holdfast Insurance Handicap 1000m
Heart Conquered (1st) had a lovely run just off the speed, peeled out on the turn and let down strongly to win well. Frazier (2nd) had a nice run midfield on rails, got into the clear at the 250m mark, let down well but couldn’t get past the winner. La Vita (3rd) led and battled on strongly.
Race 7: James Boag’s Premium Handicap 1400m
Affray (1st) had a lovely run just off the slow tempo, got into the clear and let down strongly to put them away. Scratchy Lass (2nd) settled at the rear, peeled widest on the turn and hit the line strongly. Captain Duffy (3rd) had a nice run just off the speed, peeled out and battled on well enough.
Race 8: Adelaide Galvanising Handicap 1000m
Moon Spinner (1st) settled worse than midfield wide, peeled out in the straight, let down strongly to fly late to score. Classy Jack (2nd) had a lovely run just off the speed, got into the clear, let down, hit the lead late before being grabbed in the last stride. Miss Labelle (3rd) sat on the speed, sprinted sharply to take over and look the winner, knocked up late.
Race 9: Schweppes Handicap 1300m
Iconoclasm (1st) didn’t jump well, worked up to sit just off the speed, peeled out and let down well to score, strong effort. Reap the Benefit (2nd) had a nice run in transit, got into the clear and hit the line well late. Raheeba (3rd) settled at the rear, stuck to rails on the turn, gap appeared and let down strongly.
