Morphettville Parks Review 16-Dec-17

Race 1: Adelaide Galvanising Boxing Day Family Races Handicap 1250m

Indian Thunder (1st) was well backed, settled at the rear, peeled out on straightening, and took a while to warm up but attacked the line strongly to win comfortably. Bad Wolf (2nd) box seated, let down well in the straight, winner was just too strong late, they cleared out from the rest. Tan Tat Flame (3rd) didn’t have the best of luck early in the straight.

Race 2: Happy 60th Darryl Jericho Handicap 1250m

Redentes Edge (1st) led and got control up front and was too strong late, had on pace favours. Barood (2nd) had a nice run just off the speed, kept coming in the straight, honest type. Via Balciano (3rd) over raced in the early stages and could not sprint with the winner in the straight, disappointing. Embecee Lil (4th) box seated and was one paced in the straight, think she’s better suited in a big field.

Race 3: Goldin Farms Handicap 1950m

I’m a Princess (1st) sat outside the leader, took over on the turn, let down well and held them off late, tough effort. Pretty Punk (2nd) had a lovely run, travelled up well on the turn, and had her chance to run down the winner. They cleared out from the rest.

Race 4: UBET Handicap 1400m

On pace dominated. Nikitas (1st) sat outside the leader and showed a nice turn of foot in the straight to put them away and hold on late. Chamois Road (2nd) was well backed, sat behind the leaders, was left flat footed around the turn but kept coming in the straight, honest type. Federal Court (3rd) led and had his chance.

Race 5: Schweppes Handicap 1000m

Itz Invincible (1st) sat outside the leader, let down well in the straight and was too good for them, good return. Invisible Girl (2nd) and Cashed (3rd) ran on well running their usual honest races.

Race 6: James Boag’s Premium Handicap 1000m

On pace dominated. Irish Mint (1st) led and got control, gave a good kick, and has held them off late to score an easy and deserved win. Vicki’s Boy (2nd) box seated and kept coming in the straight, had favours. Mystified (3rd) sat outside the leader/winner who outsprinted her in the straight. Nodoubtaboutit (4th) travelled up strongly on the turn but the leaders outsprinted her.

Race 7: Hughes Limousines Handicap 1400m

On pace dominated. Lord Topper (1st) sat outside the leader, gave a good kick and was the strongest late, going well this prep. Infinity Queen (2nd) led, kept finding in the straight, winner was just too strong. Light ‘n’ Fire (3rd) box seated, didn’t have the best of luck in the straight but still probably had his chance, was hitting the line strongly late. Enki (4th) ran on well late.

Race 8: The Junction Handicap 1250m

Call me Curtis (1st) was heavily backed, led, and kept kicking in the straight to hold them off, be careful following forward, had favours. France’s Boy (2nd) was caught wide on the speed throughout and kept coming in the straight, nice return. Baker’s Dozen (3rd) settled midfield, peeled out in the straight and has found the line well enough.

There was a big advantage to be racing on the speed all day which needs to be considered when following the form out of this meeting going forward.
