Race 1: James Boag’s Premium Handicap 1600m

Belfast comes here from Victoria, looks a very promising type and the step up in distance looks a big positive, looks up to this. Skillful Steps won very easily first up at Strathalbyn, can go on with it here. Pearl Raider demolished her rivals last start when scoring a deserved win, can take confidence from that and win again here.

Belfast on top but couldn’t get involved at the short quote on offer.

Race 2: Schweppes Handicap 1600m

Lite’n in my Veins comes here from Melbourne where it has been contesting much stronger races, hard to line up but must be respected. Jim’s Journey is an honest type who is sure to be amongst the finish but struggles to win. Scratchy Lass is flying and wouldn’t surprise here. Dances on Stars is going well and can certainly figure here, barrier one not ideal.

No betting interest here.

Race 3: Holdfast Insurance Handicap 1050m

Mainly first starters here and as I’ve mentioned these are not races I like to get involved in. Of the raced brigade, Chicago Typewriter and More Than Exceed both look very talented and one of these debutants would have to be pretty smart to knock them off.

Race 4: Hughes Limousines Handicap 1100m

Plutocracy resumes here for the Hayes stable, contested some very strong races in Melbourne last prep, hard to line up, market will be a good guide. Éclair Sunshine is very smart, ran into some of the top 3YO’s last prep, market good guide. Avanti Rose is the one with race fitness, comes up against some very smart types here but is fit and flying. Mondo Magic not the worst at odds.

Top race, just hard to bet with confidence with the two most talented runners both being first up, will watch and learn.

Race 5: UBET Adelaide Cup Monday 12^th March Handicap 1200m

Benz looks to find a very suitable race here, went well when resuming in Melbourne, this is easier and looks to map well. Riziz always goes well first up, gets the in form Todd Pannell in the saddle, must be respected. Counter Pulse is a very honest type, will be on speed and give a sight.

Race 6: Medallion Homes Handicap 1100m

Oamaru Owl is as honest as they come, step back to 1100m looks fine here and looks to map well. Chapel Road comes here from Victoria, should be on speed, very hard to line up. Midnight Storm is a consistent type, if the speed is on, he can round them up late. Miss Identified is going well as is the stable, can run a good race here.

Extremely open race, nothing would surprise here.

Race 7: Adelaide Galvanising Handicap 1800m

Divine Sanction comes here for the Weir camp, impossible to line up but these Weir stayers often perform well here. Bertwhistle is flying, will be running on strongly late. Tan Tat Trusting is the one that could have some upside, will be on speed and should give a sight. Cobber and Sagaab are both going well and can run well at odds.

This race looks a lottery, staying out.

Race 8: The Junction Handicap 1200m

Regal Spur comes here second up after contesting a stronger race first up, this looks a winnable race, should get a nice run in transit. Outinthestreet is flying, this is a step up but can’t knock winning form in this type of a race. Bakslap was dominant first up in SA and can go on with it. Betalyk comes through strong races, will be a long way back here, with any luck in running, she will be charging at them late. Mystified looks very short again.

Very weak race, Mystified looks short but struggling to find anything to beat it with confidence.
