Morphettville Preview 30-Dec-17
Track – Currently Rated Good 3
Rail – Out 5m 1200-WP, Out 3m the Remainder.
Race 1: UBET Handicap 1600m
Burrum’s Buzz comes here off an impressive win Bendigo, strikes a very winnable race, and should lead here, looks extremely hard to beat. Kirona was disappointing last week, might be wanting to spell now. Royal Request resumes here after racing well in Darwin last prep, market will be a good guide.
2 units – Burrum’s Buzz @ $2.30
Race 2: AAMI Handicap 2018m
Pretty Punk is going well this prep, got out to a more suitable distance last start and ran well, looks ready to peak. Exalted Lightning is flying and is hard fit, massive danger. Flow Meter is racing well but can’t see him troubling the top two.
Looks a two horse race without much value, staying out.
Race 3: Schweppes 2YO Maiden Plate 1200m
Boom Tune settled towards the rear on debut and ran on well late, can run well with natural improvement from the experience. Foie Gras has done nothing wrong in her two starts to date, should lead here, and give a great sight. John the Rodent can run well.
Very tricky race, staying out.
Race 4: Holdfast Insurance Handicap 1050m
Flying Krupt was impressive when winning first up, step up here but must be respected. The two Weir runners come from Victoria and are both very hard to line up, market should be a good guide. Kingson could do something at odds.
No interest in betting here.
Race 5: Happy 95th Birthday Noel McDermott Handicap 1600m
Light ‘N’ Fire didn’t have the best of luck last start, step up to the 1600 looks to suit, must be respected. Ace Attack is racing well, but will most likely settle towards the rear here and does struggle to win. Most of the others aren’t going well at all, not many have any upside here.
Very average race, staying out.
Race 6: Medallion Homes Handicap 1511m
Embecee Lil is a talented type, has been up for a long time and thought she was only fair last start, gets a negative jockey change here and looks to map awkward, looks very short. Frustrating thing is that I can’t find anything with confidence to beat Embecee Lil, for that reason I will be staying out.
Race 7: Adelaide Galvanising Handicap 1200m
Hazy Lane did a good job when winning first up, if can cross them here will give them something to catch. It’s Been a Battle is a nice enough type who can improve here second up. Call me Curtis looks short, had favours when winning last start.
This race looks a lottery, no betting interest.
Race 8: The Junction Handicap 1050m
Swiss Design did a good job when winning first up, will most likely settle last here, no interest of the price on offer. Mandee resumes here off a long break, contested in strong races last prep, very hard to line up, market will be a strong guide. Midnight Storm can do something here first up.
Once again, a very tricky race, not betting.
