Morphettville Preview 30-Mar-19

Track – Currently Rated Good 4

Rail – +5m 1200 - WP, +4m Remainder.

Race 1: BM 90 Handicap 1600m

A race over the mile to kick off the day and Morvada is the current favourite at $3.80. Temps Voleur and Table of Wisdom look the main speed engaged.

Blake Says: Tricky race to kick off the day. Big watch on the Hayes import which is 1st up. Kapaulenko on top but no betting interest.

Lachlan Says: Might pay to keep an eye on TABLE OF WISDOM here. $12 to $6 in early markets. The horse I'm keen on each-way is BALF'S CHOICE. Was only 3.8L away in the All Star Mile behind potentially the 2nd best horse in the Country. Ran to a career ratings peak in that race. If he brings that form back across the border he surely goes close.

Race 2: SABOIS 3YO Handicap 1050m

Sprint race for the 3YO’s and Viduka and Lake District Girl are current equal favourites at $4.20. There looks a heap of speed in this race, expect an above average tempo.

Blake Says: They should fly here. Not a race I’m overly keen to get involved in. Orbost resumes, will settle back off the strong tempo, if she can stay in touch early, she could give them something to hold out late at the double figure odds.

Lachlan Says: Good race. LAKE DISTRICT GIRL has the natural talent to give these a lesson but can be costly at times. VIDUKA looks un-tapped and a few first up horses in astute camps makes it a tricky betting race but there will be a few horses to follow forward from this event. Watching.

Race 3: BM 70 Handicap 2027m

Race for the stayers and Lynch Mob is the current $4 favourite. Doesn’t look much pressure with Lostarc the likely leader.

Blake Says: Wide open race. Lynch Mob is flying but does need luck with his racing pattern and there doesn’t look much pressure up front here. A lot of interstate form, zero betting interest in this race.

Lachlan Says: Scattered form lines make this a tricky staying race. The field is much stronger than our previous Saturday distance event but still staying out. LYNCH MOB and BERING SEA would be my two on top as they have the best distance hoops aboard but it's a no bet race for me.

Race 4: SABOIS 3YO Handicap 1600m

Race over the mile for the 3YO’s. Tongsai Boss is the current $4 favourite in what is an open market. Expecting Unfair Dismissal to lead in a race where there doesn’t look a whole lot of speed.

Blake Says: Tongsai Boss was a strong winner last start in Melbourne but didn’t beat much. Unfair Dismissal was just plain first up, can improve off the run and gets on pace favours here, distance the query. Staying out.

Lachlan Says: Another competitive event but sticking with ICE GHOST here for Gordon Richards and Dom Tourneur. Just couldn't get rolling at the correct time last start when dived and just missed. Gets an extra furlong here and should get a 3 wide smother with the speed on and produce late. Good one at a price.

Race 5: BM 64 Handicap 1200m

A very open race over the 1200m with Oh Mo and Snitz And The City current equal favourites at $5.50. Snitz And The City can lead with Just Kappy and Knotted handy.

Blake Says: Have always had some time for Oh Mo. Was solid first up when hitting the line strongly late. Needs things to go right with his racing pattern but looks to set up well here, looks solid speed, can prove hard to hold out late.

Lachlan Says: Tricky BM64 in the middle of the program. OH MO finished well last start and gives the impression the extra journey will suit. Given the correct ride from the tricky barrier, he can finish over the top of them. EXTREME THRILL can improve here too. Stable is back in business and the horse is never far away on the outer track. Have something small on both of them. Tough start to the quaddie.

Race 6: Laelia Stakes 1600m

Good race over the mile for the 3YO’s. Kenyan Wonder is the current favourite at $5.50. In Heart’s Wake and Nasaayim can work across from wide barriers to be prominent early.

Blake Says: Good race. So We Are continues to race well, maps to get a perfect run just off the speed here and looks a solid each way play. Kenyan Wonder was great first up, forgive last start when pulling up lame, will need luck in running but she’s a nice type.

Lachlan Says: KENYAN WONDER shows talent and it might pay to forgive the Flemington run where she was too far back and the times run were just too slick for her to get in contention. GOLDIFOX comes out of the same race and is another who will get back and hopefully relish a strong speed up front. Back those two but 10 horses can win this.

Race 7: Manihi Classic 1100m

Feature race over the sprint journey. Despatch is the current $2.80 favourite coming off a strong first up win. I Am Someone and Oamaru Owl look the main speed engaged.

Blake Says: I Am Someone is flying, did enough last start behind a smart horse, could lead here or can just take a sit just off Oamaru Owl and should prove hard to run down. Despatch was a class above them first up, this is tougher, and map looks tricky, willing to risk.

Lachlan Says: Best race of the day. OMARU OWL should clap the pace on early and will set things up for the horses sitting off them with the correct runs. I'm pretty keen on SHILLIDORA as she's a progressive filly. Arguably should be undefeated and loved the run at the Valley last start. Will get a box seat run and have the last crack. Will be watching with interest what MICA LIL can produce first up to whether she will be worth following this campaign.

Race 8: BM 64 Handicap 1050m

Sprint race to end the day and Tiara Star is the current favourite at $4. There looks some good speed engaged. Zarace has the speed to cross and lead. Expecting a solid tempo.

Blake Says: Wide open race to end the day. Midnight Storm and Quivers are both interesting resumers, both go well fresh and look to find a winnable race. Can both run well at odds but not a race I’m keen to get involved in.

Lachlan Says: No idea here. Will be staying out. QUIVERS showed talent early doors and has now switched to the powerful Will Clarken stable. Some early money around suggests it's a hope. MIDNIGHT STORM will be doing the best work through the line but looks a horse worth following a couple of runs in. Your guess is as good as mine here.
