Race 1: Mt Lofty Ranges Vineyard Handicap 1500m

Tricky race to start off. Deplorable has been racing well enough and gets a positive jockey change today, goes on top. Ghodeleine has showed promise in her first two starts, looks suited here. Elraazy comes here from Victoria, interesting runner.

Very tricky race, staying out.

Race 2: Barrister Block Premium Wines 2YO Plate 1050m

All but one runner is on debut here, as I have said in the past these are not races I like to get involved in, will watch and learn.

Race 3: O’Leary Walker Wines Handicap 1600m

Hussybay is flying, going for five wins in a row here, steps back to the 1600 which looks no concern and finds a field without much depth, clearly top pick. Kirona is also going very well and looks suited here. Miles of Krishan is the interesting runner, comes here from Victoria, gets the winkers on, very hard to line up.

Hussybay on top but no interest in the price on offer.

Race 4: The Lane Vineyard Handicap 2500m

Tiger Tim comes here from Victoria, put in a very nice effort last start at Ballarat, can lead here and is clearly the one to beat. Tunes is an honest type always trying his best, shouldn’t be too far away. If You put a line through Duquessa’s last start run, she’s right in this. Robocop not the worst at odds.

Don’t like betting in these staying races, staying out.

Race 5: Sidewood Estate Handicap 1050m

Fancy Rumble is a filly I have a good opinion of, was very impressive first up, can settle in a nice position here and if she can reproduce her first up effort I expect her to be winning. I am scared of Golden Lustre, has shown promise up to this date, ran into a smart one last start, she’s right in this. Wallace Street was impressive winning on debut, resumes here off a long break, think he meets a few smart ones here. Kabini not the worst at odds.

Race 6: Top Note Vineyard Handicap 1600m

Jet Express is going well, a very honest galloper who finds a suitable race and looks to box seat here. Convinced All Bar Two is flying, didn’t have things to suit last start but still ran well, should be in the finish here. Picture me Rolling is going well, can’t knock winning form. Think Ace Attack looks a touch of unders here.

Race 7: City of Marion Stakes 1200m

Great race. Steel Frost is a very talented type, returns here off a 7-week break after a very successful spring, the 1200 is a slight query but is clearly the one on the up in this race. Fox Hall is going well and must be considered here. Casino Wizard is racing well but struggles to win. Horses like Sudden Wealth and Magnus Knight aren’t the worst at odds.

I want to declare Steel Frost here but there are a few small queries, for that reason I will be staying out.

Race 8: Adelaide Hills Wine Region Handicap 1200m

Vivaldi’s Quest ran into the smart Sudden Wealth three weeks back, barrier one could be some concern here. Gogo Grace ran on well late first up, can improve further here. Infinity Queen is going well but the map looks awkward here.

Very tricky race to end the day, staying out.
