Race 1: James Boag’s Premium Handicap 1200m
Mondo Magic (1st) showed his usual speed to lead, got some cheap sectionals, kicked clear in the straight, got tired late but has just held on. Unscopeable (2nd) settled midfield, worked into the race around the turn, hit the line strongly late to just miss. Bris Vegas (3rd) sat outside the leader, travelled up well but couldn’t sprint with them, only average.
Race 2: Holdfast Insurance 2YO Plate 1100m
Double Denman (1st) sat outside the leader, was pressured in the straight, kept finding, dug in strongly late to pull away. Gytrash (2nd) was caught three wide on speed, challenged strongly in the straight, kept finding, winner too strong late but a good debut. Strategic Agenda (3rd) had a nice run just off the speed, made ground in the straight.
Race 3: Quayclean Maiden Plate 1100m
On pace dominated. Moon Spinner (1st) sat outside the leader, always travelled strongly, let down well, won with something in hand. Charossa (2nd) was caught three wide on speed, kept finding in the straight, good return. Shall We Hope (3rd) led and battled on well enough in the straight.
Race 4: UBET Adelaide Cup Monday 12th March Handicap 1200m
Stellar Collision (1st) had a lovely run box seating, had no where to go on straightening, gap appeared late in the straight, sprinted sharply to drive through and score. Go the Journey (2nd) was caught three wide on speed, battled on well to take the lead late but winner was too strong. Heart of a Lion (3rd) sat outside the leader, kept finding in the straight.
Race 5: Medallion Homes Handicap 2035m
Dangle Lad (1st) had the perfect run behind the speed, got clear on straightening, sprinted well and has drawn away late, good effort but had many favours. Ace Attack (2nd) worked across to sit outside the leader, battled on well in the straight. Casino Club (3rd) had a nice run midfield, went to work into the clear on the turn and was blocked for a run, lost momentum, picked up again late to hit the line well.
Race 6: Holdfast Insurance Birthday Cup 2035m
Exalted Lightning (1st) settled at the rear, peeled out on the turn, warmed up and has hit the line strongly late to win easily, flying. Jim’s Journey (2nd) had a nice run midfield, worked into the race strongly, battled on well enough, winner way too good. Addison (3rd) settled towards the rear, got rolling on the turn, battled on well enough.
Race 7: Hughes Limousines Handicap 1600m
Daktari (1st) had the perfect run box seating, got in a bumping duel to get into the clear, once got out, let down well, too strong late, had favours. Savanero (2nd) led, got rolling on the turn, got clear, winner was just too strong late. Traffic Maestro (3rd) settled towards the rear, travelled into the race well, hit the line strongly late.
Race 8: The Junction Handicap 1100m
Tempting Faith (1st) worked across to sit outside the leader, didn’t show a brilliant sprint, but kept grinding away to grab the upper hand late, deserved win. Alaskan Jade (2nd) was caught wide with no cover throughout, kept coming in the straight to just miss, good effort. Won Ball (3rd) led, looked the winner for most of the straight, just knocked up late.
