Morphettville Review 9-Dec-17
Race 1: Mt Lofty Ranges Vineyard Handicap 1500m
They went very slow up front here and it turned into a sprint home. Ghodeleine (1st) settled last but the Jockey made a smart move to get rolling before the turn, showed the best turn of foot and was too strong late. Deplorable (2nd) sat on the speed and was entitled to give a kick, winner was too strong. Angel’s Wish (3rd) battled on in the straight. Be careful following this race going forward.
Race 2: Barrister Block Premium Wines 2YO Plate 1050m
Burn Off (1st) showed good gate speed and was too fast for them, having the race experience was a big positive for her. Winning Partner (2nd) settled towards the rear and ran on well late. The well backed favourite Mutadaawel (3rd) had every chance but should take improvement from the run.
Race 3: O’Leary Walker Wines Handicap 1600m
Ustinov’s Fury (1st) led and was clearly headed in the straight before rallying late to score, tough effort. Miles of Krishan (2nd) sat behind the speed, had every possible chance. Hussybay (3rd) sat on the speed and kept responding in the straight to go down narrowly, still going very well.
Race 4: The Lane Vineyard Handicap 2500m
Flying Casino (1st) settled at the rear, travelled into the race very well and let down with a good sprint to power away, just be careful following him going forward, he is very inconsistent and needs a lot to go his way. Really not much to say about the rest, none of them have any upside.
Race 5: Sidewood Estate Handicap 1050m
Kabini (1st) settled worse than midfield, made progress on straightening and has let down well late to win well, deserved win. White Kaps (2nd) led and kept responding, looks to be going well. Wallace Street (3rd) sat on the speed, had every chance but can take improvement from the run. Fancy Rumble (5th) missed the start and couldn’t keep up, ran on strongly late, willing to forgive.
Race 6: Top Note Vineyard Handicap 1600m
Picture me Rolling (1st) had the perfect run behind the leaders, let down well in the straight to put the race to bed, had favours but is going very well. All Bar Two (2nd) settled towards the rear and ran on well late, going well. Ace Attack (3rd) kept coming in the straight. Spy Decoder (4th) battled on well enough but is struggling to win a race.
Race 7: City of Marion Stakes 1200m
Once Steel Frost (1st) settled so close in the run it was race over, came out wide in the straight and put them away, a class above. Casino Wizard (2nd) ran on very well late, beat the rest easily, good effort. Sudden Wealth (3rd) ran on powerfully late, has come back a nice horse this prep.
Race 8: Adelaide Hills Wine Region HCP 1200m
Gogo Grace (1st) settled midfield, wanted to over race approaching the turn, only looked to be grinding away but knuckled down well late, did a few things wrong but has ability. Quivers (2nd) loomed in the straight but the winner was too strong in the latter stages, horse is going very well. Alaskan Jade (3rd) ran on strongly late. Devilishly (4th) battled on well in the straight but doesn’t know how to win races.
