Pakenham Review 9-Dec-17

Race 1: O’Connor Beef 3YO BM70 Handicap 1000m

Bel Sonic (1st) settled towards the rear and took rails runs to make ground and score, the ground he won in turned out to be the worst part of the track so a good effort. Spirit of Aquada (2nd) settled worse than midfield and ran on well late. Elite Legacy (3rd) slice through the field in the straight and hit the line well late. Miss Leonidas (4th) was caught wide on speed and battled on well in the straight.

Evil Lil (1st) had a nice run midfield, peeled off heels in the straight and rallied late to score. Bonus D’Oro (2nd) settled at the rear, loomed up in the straight and looked the winner but was grabbed by the eventual winner right on the line. They cleared out from the rest.

Race 3: Hanson BM78 Handicap 2000m

O’lonera (1st) had the perfect run just off the speed, found the right part of the track and has won easy, had many favours. Casta (2nd) had a lovely run and kept coming in the straight. Shangani Patrol (3rd) box seated and battled away well enough in the straight.

Race 4: John Duff & Co BM78 Handicap 1000m

On pace dominated. Nasdex (1st) led, got control, and gave a kick, has just held them off late. Wise Hero (2nd) sat outside the winner and kept coming in the straight to just miss. Leodoro (3rd) box seated and was one paced in the straight. The backmarkers had no chance.

Race 5: Stabil-Lime Group Handicap 1200m

Tried and Tired (1st) had a lovely run just off the speed and has kept grinding away in the straight to score. Proud Wolf (2nd) settled worse than midfield and has ran on strongly late. Jungle Edge (3rd) was heavily backed, led, and gave a kick, knocked up late, wasn’t in the best part of the track.

Race 6: Schweppes David Bourke Memorial Handicap 1600m

Master Reset (1st) sat outside the leader, found the right part of the track, and powered away to win easily, nice effort. Jacquinot Bay (2nd) sat midfield and ran on late to run his usual honest race. Coldstone (3rd) had a lovely run in transit and was one paced in the straight. Silvera (6th) was ridden cold and couldn’t make up the ground in the straight.

Race 7: Sportsbet Pakenham Cup 2500m

Like a Carousel (1st) had a lovely run midfield and kept coming in the straight to get up in the last few strides. Khartoum (2nd) sat on the speed and kept finding in the straight. Oncidium Ruler (3rd) settled midfield, didn’t have the best of luck in the straight, should have gone close.

Race 8: Racing.com Vobis Gold Bullion 1400m

Amadeus (1st) had a lovely run just off the speed, found the right part of the track and has gone on to win easily. Willi Willi (2nd) settled at the rear and ran on well in the worst part of the track. Burning Front (3rd) led and ran his usual honest race.

Race 9: Sportsbet Power Play BM70 Handicap

On pace dominated. Parallel World (1st) sat on the speed, found the right part of the track and was the strongest late. Hunamosa (2nd) led and gave a good kick, winner was just too strong late. Florida Keys (3rd) box seated and battled away in the straight.

This is not a meeting I want to follow the form out of, there were certain lanes on the track that were very advantageous, it was a very average meeting.
