Pedigree Analysis - Fernhill Handicap / China Horse Club Mile
China Horse Club Mile for the 2yo’s
Overview
The China Horse Club Mile for the 2yo’s (formerly the Fernhill Handicap) is the first time these youngsters will step up to the 1600m. The question is which ones have the aptitude to run a strong mile. That’s a question we need to answer to help make an informed investment decision and we can do that through pedigree analysis.
- Muswellbrook (C grade pedigree)
By Denman from a More Than Ready mare. Plenty of speed there. That’s backed up by the speed profile. Suited to a sprinting trip and a mile should see it out – definite distance risk.
- Legislation (A grade pedigree)
By Not A Single Doubt from an Empire Maker mare. Again, plenty of speed and again speed profile says best suited to the sprint trips – huge distance risk.
- Momentum Factor (B grade pedigree)
By The Factor from a Tale of the Cat mare. Speed profile says sprinter/miler but no further. Should handle the step up in trip.
- Mandalong Tapit (A grade pedigree)
Real American pedigree here being by Tapit from a Harlan’s Holiday mare. Speed profile says definite miler and a winner last time when stepped up in trip. No distance concerns.
- Sokudo (C grade pedigree)
By Not A Single Doubt from a Bianconi mare. Female family has plenty of staying influences. Speed profile says a mile and further right up its alley.
- Aristocratic Miss (A grade pedigree)
By Foxwedge from a Gold Brose mare. Speed profile is that of a middle-distance horse so extra trip is ideal and that’s supported by the way it has been hitting the line late in its races.
- Vega One (A grade pedigree)
By Lope de Vega from a Distorted Humor mare. Speed profile says suited to sprinter and a mile would see it out. Has to be a distance risk.
- Cristal Eyes (SCRATCHED)
- Futooh (A grade pedigree)
By Sebring from a Dubawi mare. Female pedigree looks pretty sharp and the speed profile says best suited sprinting so the mile looks a real query.
- Rheingau (C grade pedigree)
By Animal Kingdom from a Lonhro mare. Speed profile says best suited at a middle-distance trip so the mile on pedigree holds no issues.
- Bold Arial (C grade pedigree)
By I Am Invincible from a Zariz. A very fast pedigree on paper. That’s supported by the numbers that says this is an out and out sprinter. Distance must be a huge risk here.
- Greysful Glamour (C grade pedigree)
By Stratum from a Dalakhani mare. Speed profile is that of a miler and maybe a touch further. The trip doesn’t look a concern for this one.
- Peaceful Solution (A grade pedigree)
By Declaration of War from a Fusaichi Pegasus mare. Heavy female staying family and that’s supported by speed profile that says a mile and further will suit down to the ground.
The Final Word
For mine I’m going to put Aristocratic Miss on top. With the equal highest rated pedigree in the field, no questions around its distance profile and ‘A’ grade performances in its last two runs it looks awfully hard to go past.
Best of luck with all your investments.
