Randwick Review 30-Dec-17
Race 1: New Years Day at Royal Randwick Plate 1100m
Quackerjack (1st) settled just off the speed, travelled up well, and knuckled down strongly in the last 200m to score. Secret Lady (2nd) led, gave a good kick, just ran down late, is an honest type. Everard (3rd) settled midfield on the rails, made steady ground in the straight, solid debut.
Race 2: TAB Handicap 1300m
Sasso Corbaro (1st) settled on the rails in behind the speed, gap appeared in the straight and let down strongly to go clear, looks a serious filly. Kissing Game (2nd) had a lovely run, made steady ground in the straight. Epidemic (3rd) settled last and ran on in the straight.
Race 3: Book Summer Hospitality Today Mile 1600m
Dreamforce (1st) led and got complete control, powered away in the straight, was never going to lose. Hunter Jack (2nd) box seated and battled on well enough in the straight. Liapari (3rd) settled last and made ground late, didn’t have the tempo to suit.
Race 4: TAB.com.au Handicap 1100m
Pendeloque (1st) led, got control, and showed a good enough sprint to put them away in the straight. Junglized (2nd) didn’t jump too well, sat outside leader on soft tempo and battled on well enough, Kennedy (3rd) was three wide on speed and kept hitting the line late, run looked better than it was as sitting three wide wasn’t a big disadvantage with how slow they were going.
Race 5: #Theraces Handicap 1200m
Brave Song (1st) was heavily backed, sat just off the speed, travelled up strongly, and has got the job done comfortably. Crafty Cop (2nd) and Flow (3rd) got some control up front and battled on strongly in the straight.
Race 6: TAB Highway Handicap 1100m
All Stand (1st) was well backed late, sat in just behind the tearaway leader and showed a nice sprint to put the race to bed on straightening, good ride. Remittance (2nd) and Acquittal (3rd) both settled on the rails worse than midfield and made good late ground in the straight.
Race 7: Christmas Classic 1200m
Music Magnate (1st) sat outside the leader, kept finding in the straight to hold them all off, tough effort first up. Dothraki (2nd) box seated, battled on well in the straight without ever threatening the winner. Isorich (3rd) led and kept finding in the straight. Supreme Effort (4th) loomed up strongly but just couldn’t catch them, there was an advantage to be towards the inside, I think if it was a fairer track, he goes very close to winning.
Race 8: Hyland Boxing Day Sale Handicap 1800m
Hogmanay (1st) was used up early to cross to the lead, got control and had enough to hold them off in the straight, good ride. Vaucluse Bay (2nd) sat outside the leader/winner and battled on well in the straight. Xebec (3rd) settled worse than midfield on the rails, made good ground late.
Race 9: ATC Owners Benefit Card Sprint 1200m
Sugar Bella (1st) settled worse than midfield, peeled out in the straight and attacked the line strongly late to win well in what was the worse ground, big win. Reward for Fashion (2nd) led at what looked a strong tempo and kept finding in the straight, was in the best ground though. Kawaikini (3rd) settled at the rear, picked up well late.
