Rosehill Review 18-Nov-17
Race 1: ATC Owners Benefit Card Handicap 1200m
On pace dominated. Pretty Fast (1st) sat outside the leader and was too strong late, going well. Easy Eddie (2nd) led and kicked, has gone well enough. Heliosphere (3rd) had gone very well, didn’t have the tempo to suit and has ran on strongly, looks in for a good prep.
Race 2: Chandons Handicap 1400m
Sedanzer (1st) had a nice run midfield and kept coming in the straight to just get up, should take good improvement from the run, and looks in for a good prep. Slow Burn (2nd) had a nice run, showed a nice turn of foot, bloused late, beat the rest easily, good effort. Not much to say about the rest.
Race 3: Boohoo.com Handicap 2000m
Lord Kingsley (1st) settled worse than midfield off the strong tempo and has ran on well to get up late, going well this prep. Imperial Aviator (2nd) looked to be struggling a long way out but kept finding the line. Not much to say about the rest, nothing with upside in this race.
Race 4: TAB Highway Handicap 1100m
Equal Balance (1st) had a nice run midfield and has been too strong late, deserved win. Star Aspiration (2nd) and She Knows (3rd) both sat on the speed and had their chance.
Race 5: November Handicap 1400m
Cabeza De Vaca (1st) owned the race out in front and was given a lovely front running ride by Rachel King, can keep winning going up in distance. Firsthand (2nd) has ran well, was attacking the line well late, winner got the break on straightening. Federal (3rd) has gone well enough but hasn’t won for a long time.
Race 6: November Topaz 1900m
Interlocuter (1st) settled towards the rear, travelled up very well like he was going to put a gap in them, only grinded to the line but still a class above. Black on Gold (2nd) is going well, might have ran into a smart one. Embley (3rd) ran his usual honest race.
Race 7: Jaydub Electrical Handicap 1200m
Best Guess (1st) was heavily backed and has owned the race in front, was never going to lose, a class above. Star Reflection (2nd) sat behind the leader, has battled on well enough, good return. Pipeline (3rd) has ran on well enough, solid return. Pelorus Jack (5th) was held up early in the straight, still don’t think he figures in the finish even with clear running.
Race 8: #THERACES Handicap 1400m
Redouble (1st) was caught wide and kept hitting the line for a nice win, going well and is hard fit. Flow (2nd) was a mess in the mounting yard pre-race, has gone well, just beaten by a fitter horse, looks in for a good prep. Cosmic Engine (3rd) has gone OK.
Race 9: Boxing Day at Royal Randwick Sprint 1100m
Glenall (1st) had a nice run and kept hitting the line in the straight, nice return. Tactical Advantage (2nd) had a nice run midfield, showed a nice sprint to just go down, nice run. Tango Rain (4th) travelled up like the winner before knocking up late, solid run. Thought Pomelo (5th) went well, don’t think staying at the 1100m suited, want to be on her up in distance next start.
Horses to Follow
Heliosphere – Nice return, should be winning a race this prep.
Flow – Played up pre-race, nice return, should be winning soon.
Pomelo – Keen to back her up in distance next start.
