Sandown Review 18-Nov-17

Race 1: Thoroughbred Club Merson Copper Stakes 1000m

Long Leaf (1st) sat on the speed, kicked, and looked to almost be headed but really dug in well late to score, looks like a real line chaser. Oohood (2nd) loomed but the winner was just too strong, nice debut. Sanglier (3rd) led and has ran well enough.

Race 2: Twilight Glow Stakes 1400m

Yulong Xingsheng (1st) had a nice run midfield three wide with cover and has been too strong late. So Far Sokool (2nd) had the perfect run, still a nice run but had many favours. Lady of Crebilly (3rd) ran on well, keeps improving.

Race 3: Ladbrokes Sandown Cup 3200m

Fanatic (1st) sat towards the rear off a strong tempo, really knuckled down well late to score. Swacadelic (2nd) kept grinding away to the line. Gallic Chieftan (3rd) had his chance, top two were too strong late.

Race 4: Kevin Heffernan Stakes 1300m

Jungle Edge (1st) ran along in the lead and has held on, tough effort. Casino Wizard (2nd) sat behind the leader, had every chance. Thronum (3rd) sat midfield, kept attacking the line late, had his chance to run down the winner. No excuses for the rest.

Race 5: Chandler Macleod Recruitment Stakes 1500m

On pace dominated. Dollar for Dollar (1st) sat outside the lead and was too strong late, is hard fit and flying this prep. Hellova Street (2nd) led and fought on well, winner just too strong. Moss ‘n’ Dale (3rd) ran his usual honest race.

Race 6: Clanbrooke Racing Doveton Stakes 1000m

Crystal Dreamer (1st) led and never really looked in doubt, kicked away in the straight, much too good for them. Lady Esprit (2nd) ran on well. Gun Case (3rd) kept finding the line.

Race 7: Quayclean Zipping Classic 2400m

The Taj Mahal (1st) sat on the speed and pulled away on straightening for an easy win, could be an exciting stayer next prep. Almandin (2nd) and Big Duke (3rd) both had every chance but have still run well and lose no admirers.

Race 8: Ladbrokes Sandown Guineas 1600m

Villermont (1st) sat back last and when the gap appeared in the straight and let down well to round them up, nice effort. Peaceful State (2nd) has also ran on well, was caught wide in the run, good run. Black Sail (3rd) gave a good kick, was the only on pacer to be amongst the finish.

Race 9: Mypunter.com Eclipse Stakes 1800m

Payroll (1st) sat wide midfield and has kept coming in the straight to score a tough win, nice effort. Kidmenever (2nd) missed the start but did get a lovely run along the rails on straightening, still a good run. Jacquinot Bay (3rd) ran his usual honest race, struggles to win. Raw Impulse (4th) was one paced.

Race 10: Le Pine Funerals Summoned Stakes 1500m

Long Time Ago (1st) and Mrs Gardenia (2nd) both had lovely runs throughout and have been the strongest late, still a strong effort first up by Long Time Ago and Mrs Gardenia is going well. Oregon’s Day (3rd) has gone very well, was caught three wide on speed and has battled on well, the two inside of him on the speed both finished towards the rear. Horses like Quilate (4th), Whyouask (5th) and Petition (6th) have ran on well but they are hard to follow with confidence with their racing patterns.
