There is black type racing in 5 states again this weekend.
In NSW the focus moves from Sydney to Hawkesbury where there are three Group 3s and a Listed race. The $200,000 Group 3 Hawkesbury Cup has a capacity field. The early favourite is Floating Artist from the Maher/Eustace stable but the betting is fairly open. The $200,000 Hawkesbury Guineas has a good field where Razeta and Kote are early favourites, whilst Atmosphere and Hawaii Five Oh are also strong chances. The $160,000 Listed Hawkesbury Rush has an interesting field that includes Malkovich and Surreal Step who ran 2nd and 3rd last year, with Andermatt the favourite. With 10 races to watch it should be a great day's racing.
The Adelaide carnival has a Group 3 and three Listed races at Morphettville Parks. The main race is the $127,250 Group 3 R N Irwin Stakes where trainer James Cummings has the favourite Kallos. He has won his last 2 races but has drawn very wide. Betting is wide open in he Listed City Of Adelaide Handicap where the 9YO Morvada returns after winning this race last year and running 2nd in 2021.
In Victoria the main race is the $300,000 Listed Mornington Cup where the 2019 Melbourne Cup winner Vow And Declare is topweight in the 2400m race, and the field includes Nonconformist who ran 2nd in this race 2 years ago and Hezashocka. Last year's winner Not An Option returns to defend his title in the $200,000 Listed Hareeba Stakes and topweight Jigsaw has won 4 of his 5 starts this campaign.
At Doomben there are three Listed races. In the $160,000 Mick Dittman 3YO Plate Chinny Boom has won 6 of his 7 starts. At Ascot the feature is the $125,000 Sheila Gwynne Classic with only 6 runners this year. Dean, 10:03 AM Please send me a test when ready
