Special Membership Message - June
A solid day yesterday pushed us into profit for May and brought us to 11 straight winning months since the service was revamped. The consistency in the results and 262 units profit in 11 months is something I'm proud of, and I've appreciated your positive feedback and loyalty during that time.
I’ve decided to take a ‘break’ from Data Spy for a few weeks.
There’s a number of reasons that I’ve summarised below:
1) The month of June has been unprofitable the past 2 years. June is when the worst horses are racing, on the worst possible tracks. Some tracks are a bog, others are firm in the morning and get wet and greasy during the day, whilst others are wet in the morning and then end up drying. This makes things challenging. Whilst it also creates opportunities, and some may do well during this period, if there is ever a time worth taking a break for myself, this is the month.
2) I’ve never taken a proper break from this 7 day a week service in 3.5 years. In fact I’ve sent out tips on my wedding day, during my honeymoon in the middle of Africa, over Christmas and holiday periods, and on the day of my son’s birth (all profitably too!). That type of dedication isn’t present in most services, but can also take its toll on family life and mental freshness. Like any champion racehorse, one needs a chance to take a spell and recharge, and this is the perfect time to do that and come back refreshed and ready to go when the good horses and good weather come back soon enough
3) I am very keen to do a lot more detailed analysis on the database. As you well know, since I completed my first set of detailed analysis we have made a staggering 262 units profit in just 11 months, and not had a single losing month. However that analysis was only Phase 1, and there are quite a number of levels further to go. To really progress this I need to spend some real quality time extracting, massaging and assessing the data at even more deeper levels than previously. This will not only improve the current service, but potentially create other services to suit different types of punters. I am even considering working with a data scientist to extract maximum value from the analysis
4) I plan to spend some time working on exciting new education material and content to benefit you with all aspects of your betting. I’ll also be furthering discussions with a couple of pro punters with very unique, big edges to hopefully be able to offer their services to you later in the year. We are also investigating a new payment provider to replace Paypal, who are very inflexible in allowing us to offer what we would like to benefit members. We want the ability to place memberships on hold (e.g. if we take a break, or you go on holiday for example), and also to allow the ability to extend memberships so that we can offer refer a friend bonuses etc to you. All of this focus will be on how to make all of our products and services better for you to access, easier to use and achieving our mission of maximising your profits and enjoyment from your betting.
So what happens now?
The Data Spy service will be paused for a minimum of 4 weeks starting today (June 1). However it’s imperative that I complete all of the analysis I want to set the service up for success for many years to come. So if I need to extend this a bit further I’ll advise in due course.
Unfortunately one limitation we have currently with Paypal is we cannot simply place memberships on hold. We intend however to replace Paypal with another provider who does enable this functionality. To ensure the smoothest transition across to the new provider, below is how we will deal with the paused service:
1) Your Data Spy membership including payments will continue during the paused period. Once the paused period has ceased (e.g. 4 weeks), your Data Spy membership will be extended for the same period (e.g. 4 weeks) using our new payment provider
2) As an added complimentary bonus as a valued member, we will be offering you one month free for one Winning Edge Investments service of your choice: NZ Tips, AFL/NRL Tips or Cricket Tips. You cannot be a current member of these services to utilise this bonus
3) As a final bonus, we will also be offering you our Golf Tips service via e-mail for free for one month
Simply reply to this e-mail advising which service you would like to receive, and I’ll send you your special promo code details.
A brief summary of each service is below:
NZ Tips
John has his own database that identifies big edges in the NZ Market. Top raters alone in the database made huge profits in 2014 and 2015. 2016 started off with a huge bang and over 90 units profit in Jan/Feb alone. April however in particular was a very tough month, and so adjustments were made to significantly reduce the variance. The slight adjustments to staking and methodology were applied to 2016 results which led to the following.
Month P/L POT%
Jan +23.35 +28.1%
Feb +24.20 +30.4%
Mar +16.10 +29.3%
Apr -21.90 -28.1%
May -4.20* -16.5%
* Note since amending the staking strategy on May 16, official results have been 9.3 units profit (including a winner Pilgrim at Matamata this morning), so May is now in profit also.
However there have been an incredible 68.4 units worth of 2nd placings in just the past 9 days, including 30 units worth of 2nd placings on Sunday! In fact, there have been over 340 units worth of 2nd placings in just the past 2 months.
A bit like when a quality stock is oversold on the share-market, this is a service about to explode with profits when it gets its fair share of photos.
Unlike most, John loves the winter months and betting on wet tracks which are a regular in NZ, and his results are often better this time of the year.
AFL/NRL Tips
Will had made 223 units profit over the past 3 seasons, however has found 2016 tougher to date, and last month identified that AFL played in 2016 is vastly different to AFL played in the last 5 years. There are fewer contests (ball-ups, throws-in) and it is much more free-flowing. Whilst this is good for the club supporter that enjoys watching AFL; it has changed the parameters for a professional punter to handicap. Will has been very busy behind the scenes tweaking his model to adapt to the changed game, and it has performed well since these changes. Will is expecting a strong close to the season, so if you love your footy whether AFL or NRL this is a great time to get on board.
Cricket Tips
This service started with a bang during the T20 World Cup, but the IPL caused some headaches with some results that a number of pundits worldwide have queried. With words like fixed and rigged being bandied around regularly one must wonder what the future holds for this tournament. Dave wrote the following on the blog, and is expecting a swift return to profits
Additionally, you will receive a free month’s trial of Golf Tips
Our Golf analyst John has been a professional golfer since 1971 (45 years). He played in two British Opens, won five professional events including two national championships, was a commentator on all professional events in New Zealand for twenty years, and commentated on the four majors, plus the Espirito Santo, the Eisenhower and the Australian Open. He was also a director of the Australasian PGA tour for eight years. Best of all he now spends much of his time these days analysing and betting on golf.
He showed his ability to find massive priced winners when tipping Brian Stuard on April 28 publicly to everyone on our blog, twitter and facebook to win the Zurich Classic at an incredible 1000/1 !!!
Official results based on the advised staking strategy for bets that have all been sent out publicly on the blog, facebook and twitter are 83.20 units profit thanks to the big winner. Obviously the way John bets is to find big priced value and so there can be lean runs but the wins are huge. He actually does a lot of betfair trading, and may give advice from time to time on laying back players backed at huge odds that firm significantly after strong early rounds.
What happens if I cancel the Data Spy service subscription during the break?
You are of course welcome to do so, but your free trial access to the other services will immediately cease, and any previous discounted prices from being an early adopter will be foregone when you decide to re-subscribe again in the future.
What do you have to do?
Simply send back an e-mail confirming which service you would like to trial for free for a month, and we will provide you with a promo code.
You will be automatically added to the Golf service when it commences shortly.
Good luck with the trial services. Any questions please let me know.
All the best.
Dean
