The $10m Everest, and Centrebet introduce $1000 min bet nationwide
The Everest
Sydney will host the richest turf race in the world when The Everest is run at Randwick on October 14.
The $10 million weight-for-age race will be conducted run over 1200-metres and is the result of a joint venture between the ATC and Racing NSW.
Twelve 'slots' will be made available for The Everest, each slot to go on the market for $600,000.
The 'slots' will be tradable and transferable, with a three-year buy-in clause ensuring The Everest has enough time to develop its brand and take its place on the global racing calendar
First prize has been set at $5.8 million which is almost ten times the original outlay for the owner of the winning slot. Runner-up receives $1.425 million whilst third will bank $800,000.
Fourth and fifth receive $400,000 and $250,000 respectively whilst sixth to last receive $175,000.
$100,000 will be donated to the equine welfare fund.
It is expected to attract international interest.

Centrebet
Corporate bookmaker Centrebet on Wednesday announced that they will be betting punters to win a minimum of $1,000 on ALL Australian thoroughbred racing, including country and provincial meetings from all states.
This offering is in addition to Centrebet's limits that afford punters the opportunity to win $5,000 on Saturday metro and $2,500 on non-metro thoroughbred racing.
Tom Waterhouse - CEO of William Hill Australia (which owns and operates Centrebet) - describes Centrebet as a "no frills site" tailored towards those "looking to get set at the top of the market".
“If you are a professional punter, rails bookie looking to bet back, serious punter or have previously had your account restricted by a competitor I encourage you to sign up to Centrebet and take us on," said Waterhouse.
Centrebet's minimum bet for country and provincial racing will apply from 9am,local time, on the day of each meeting from Thursday 2 February
You may have had an account closed or restricted by Centrebet previously, or by William Hill or Tom Waterhouse, but it doesn't matter. You simply go to the Centrebet website, sign back up with them, and they will remove any previous restriction your account and allow you to bet to the above limits on all races nationwide.
We don't know how long it will last, and we don't promote bookmaker affiliates, but we do advise heading over to the Centrebet website and taking advantage of this.
