The Week In Review - 15 - 21 October
Trial Spy
Week: 9.5 units profit (50.6% PoT)
Overall: 687.6 units profit (10.2% PoT)
Good week with 9.5 units profit, taking us to over 117 units profit over the past 5 months.
Foxie La Belle at $20 yesterday was the highlight, and Flamin Al a good dominant winner also yesterday. Still not sure how Shake On It got beat in the photo at Moe on Thursday at $7.
Longer term, it continues a great second half to the calendar year, with Trial Spy delivering a whopping 111 units profit since June 1st.
NSW Tips & Ratings
Week: 1.9 units profit (20.6% PoT)
Overall: 137.8 units profit (21.2% PoT)
Mark did something very, very rare on Tuesday… he had a losing day! Not like him at all. Not to worry, as he buttered up with a couple of winners on Wednesday (So Taken) and Saturday (Resin) to deliver his usual 20%+ PoT week.
The brilliant 2018 calendar year rolls on, and is now at 118 units profit.
John's Analytics
Week: -8.9 units profit (-55.8% PoT)
Overall: 255.3 units profit (16.2% PoT)
A fairly poor week for John’s Analytics, after a couple of very big ones. We found a few short-priced winners, but weren’t able to get enough good results to secure a profit overall. Still, even with this week’s loss, we’re up over 31 units over the past four weeks – things are trending well on the whole.
BlackBook Bets
Week: -15.8 units profit (-89.0% PoT)
Overall: 280.2 units profit (7.3% PoT)
Last week was a shocker for BlackBook, no two ways about it. We backed 19 horses and couldn’t find a winner, with a couple of placings being the only returns we managed. It certainly seems like a downturn at the moment, but we’ve only actually lost nine units across the whole month, so it’s not as though we’re bleeding profits – it’s just a case of a few more results going our way.
Dean’s Tips
Week: 6.1 units profit (23.3% PoT)
Overall: 634.7 units profit (7.9% PoT)
Solid week generating 6 units profit, taking us to around 20 units profit since resuming last month. Beersheba Lass at $19 at Canberra and Best Solution winning the Caulfield Cup at $12 were among the highlights. Appoint Percy was a bit stiff when a close 3rd at 50/1 also.
The other highlight was Thinkin' Big bolting in to win the Caulfield Classic by 3 lengths in a dominant performance. We have backed him at $41 in Futures to win the Victoria Derby, and he is now the $3 hot favourite for the race. We also have a ticket for him at $201 for the Melbourne Cup, a race he will contest if all goes to plan in the Derby.
Golf
Week: -0.6 units profit (-100.0% PoT)
Overall: 28.8 units profit (9.4% PoT)
Very quiet week for the golf, with just a few small bets in the Andalusia Valderrama Masters.
Cricket
Week: -0.5 units profit (-100.0% PoT)
Overall: 59.3 units profit (6.8% PoT)
Just the one small bet this week – we backed the West Indies to hit the most sixes against India.
