The Week in Review: 27 August - 2 September
BlackBook Bets
Week: -10.0 units profit (-66.7% PoT)
Overall: 288.5 units profit (7.7% PoT)
Very disappointing week for BlackBook punters after some solid form of late. We backed 13 horses across the week and found a few placings, but were unable to find that crucial winner or two. Six of the thirteen ran a place, so we got a collect and weren’t a mile off, but variance got the better of us.
NSW Tips & Ratings
Week: 1.8 units profit (17.1% PoT)
Overall: 101.0 units profit (17.8% PoT)
The winning weeks just seem to fall effortlessly off the calendar with Mark – not that it’s as easy for the man himself! We had another effective one this week, with three winners from our eight bets: Madam Rouge (Canterbury, Wednesday), Unforgotten and Best Of Days (Randwick, Saturday) all saluting for us to deliver another profit.
John's Analytics
Week: -2.6 units profit (-17.7% PoT)
Overall: 191.5 units profit (13.3% PoT)
A small loss on a busy week for John. We backed 21 horses across the week and found four winners: Choisborder (Echuca, Monday), Splitter (Ipswich, Wednesday), Caro Cavallo (Grafton, Saturday) and Mervyn (Kalgoorlie, Sunday). That was enough to almost break even, however some disappointing performances elsewhere cost us a winning week.
Dean’s Tips
Week: -6.8 units profit (-46.3% PoT)
Overall: 608.3 units profit (7.8% PoT)
Dean is back! After a couple of months’ winter break he’s freshened up and looking to add to an amazing 600 units lifetime profit. There was no easing back into it - the first day back on Saturday we had 14 bets and 14.7 units out for the day. We got a winner with Theanswermyfriend at Morphettville, but that was all we could muster. Play on.
NRL Tips
Week: -17.0 units profit (-100.0% PoT)
Overall: 15.1 units profit (0.7% PoT)
An absolute horror show for NRL Tips over the weekend. There’s no way around that. We had eight bets for 17 units out and didn’t trouble the scorers in the win column. The fine margins are always present in betting and they certainly were here… we missed two line bet results by half a point. Need to dust ourselves off and concentrate on finals now.
Golf
Week: -2.2 units profit (-100.0% PoT)
Overall: 37.5 units profit (13.2% PoT)
Yes, again, we’ll sound like a broken record here… but it’s amazing how close John is getting to a massive collect. We backed 22 players across the Dell Championships and Denmark Championship. Seven of them made the cut… all at prices between $500 and $1,000. Abraham Ancer even led the Dell Championships heading into the final round and we had him at odds of $730! Can’t be far away…
AFL Tips
Overall: 11.2 units profit (6.3% PoT)
No games in the AFL last week. We’re back now with the first week of finals.
Cricket
Week: 3.6 units profit (89.5% PoT)
Overall: 61.8 units profit (7.2% PoT)
Cricket is still somewhat quiet at this type of year… but Dave still finds value. Just the two bets in the fourth test between England and India… and both saluted.
