Exactly a year ago we had discussions with Lachlan Mosley about ways to maximise profits from his excellent Blackbook Bets selections.

Together we performed analysis and determined that focusing on runners at bigger odds was the key to maximising profits.

It has been a year since those discussions were implemented, and we thought it worthwhile to review results, and discuss some positive changes to the service going forward. 

Pleasingly, results over the past year have been excellent. 

Overall the service has made +107 units PROFIT at 21% POT, a $10,700 profit per $100 unit, at an average bet size of just $50.

These results on their own were excellent.

When we dug a little deeper, we saw that for Win Only bets, all recorded at BOB, with 0.5u staked on each, the results were +110 units profit at a truly remarkable 39% POT.

Backing horses at only odds of $10+, the results were 117 units profit at an astonishing 69% POT for the year.

Betting in this manner resulted in higher profits, higher POT, and lower variance, with the largest drawdown just 25 units.

Big winners have included Florent $57, The Real Beel $51, Miss Iano $31, Leale $26, Vinland $26, All Hard Wood $24, Just Elated $23, Bayou $22 and many, many more.

As a result, we've decided to make some simple changes to the service to benefit members going forward.

1) Bets will be scheduled at 9.30am, so as not to clash with other services

2) Bets will be recorded at BOB

3) Bets will be on runners where the price is expected to be odds of $10+

4) Bets will be win only

We trust these changes will not only prove more profitable, but make this service super simple to follow, and very easy match or beat official results.

Indeed numerous studies have shown that at odds of $8+, Betfair SP actually outperforms BOB.

We saw a perfect example on Saturday with winning bet Florent at Caulfield winning at $57 Best Tote, but $77 Betfair SP. Hence those utilising Betfair could achieve better results again.
