Warwick Farm Review 23-Dec-17

Race 1: Merry Christmas From the ATC Plate 1200m

Condemned (1st) had a nice run in behind the speed, peeled out in the straight and kept finding the line to score late, nice debut. Sokudo (2nd) was caught three wide the trip, kept coming in the straight, good run. Rock Zone (3rd) led and kept finding in the straight.

Race 2: TAB.com.au Handicap 1600m

Just the three horse field and Scream Park (1st) justified its short quote winning easily, a class above. Not much to say about the other two, hard to get a good handle on the race with such a small field.

Race 3: Boxing Day at Royal Randwick Handicap 1600m

Cellarman (1st) settled towards the rear, peeled out to be the widest runner and attacked the line strongly late to score a good win. King Darci (2nd) led, looked to be struggling on the turn but kept finding in the straight. Strike Force (3rd) sat on the speed and battled away in the straight.

Race 4: TAB Highway Handicap 1600m

Itsa Fait Accompli (1st) settled worse than midfield, made an early long sustained run approaching the turn and kept responding in the straight to hold on, tough win. Newtown Bluebag (2nd) got onto the back of the winner circling the field, kept coming in the straight but had its chance. Volpe (3rd) was ridden upside down, kept finding in the straight.

Race 5: ATC Owners Benefit Card Handicap 2110m

Paragon (1st) box seated and looked under heavy pressure around the turn, has picked up again to score in the last stride, can stay all day. Great Glen (2nd) led and gave a good kick on straightening, looked the winner before being grabbed in the last stride. Tumultuous (3rd) had a lovely run in transit and presented up well but couldn’t reach the top two.

Race 6: Hyland Boxing Day Sale Sprint 1200m

Wild ‘n’ Famous (1st) sat towards the rear off what looked a strong tempo and has swooped late, encouraging return. Bratislava (2nd) and Il Mio Destino (3rd) both sat on the speed and kept kicking in the straight. So did Test the World (4th) but I’m not sure why the jockey was so desperate to hold the rails and try and hold the others out, it then turned into a speed battle, if Shinn took the sit in behind them, Test the World wins.

Race 7: December Handicap 1400m

Nancy (1st) was caught three wide the trip and kept coming in the straight to just score, good win. Morton’s Fork (2nd) settled last and had to peel out as the widest on the turn, flew home late. Supply and Demand (3rd) sat on the speed and kept finding late.

Race 8: #theraces Handicap 1400m

On pace dominated. Raijinz (1st) sat outside the leader, the two pulled clear on straightening and he was the strongest late. Milwaukee (2nd) led and had every chance, the winner was just too strong late, beat the rest easily. Better not Blue (3rd) box seated, kept kicking in the straight, no match the top two.

Race 9: ATC Handicap 1400m

Noire (1st) had a lovely run off the speed, tracked the favourite into the race and was the strongest late. Pecans (2nd) was heavily backed, had a lovely run, kept finding in the straight but the winner had the sit on it and was too strong late. They cleared out from the rest.
