Bet Limit Change To Benefit Punters

We just wanted to advise all our valued members of a positive improvement to Minimum Bet Laws in Victoria.

In a boost to punters, Racing Victoria (RV) has announced a significant change to its Minimum Bet Limit (MBL) policy.

Racing Victoria’s previous MBL stated that each Corporate Bookie must bet any punters to win $2000 at metropolitan meetings and $1000 at other venues, but they didn’t kick in until 9am raceday (or 2pm for night meetings).

That has now changed so that each Corporate Bookie must bet you to win the above amounts from the moment they put up their market prices, even if days out before the event begins. In an Australian first, wagering outlets betting on Victorian racing will be obliged to apply MBL’s from the moment they first frame their market.

The change comes on the back on consultation with stakeholders - including professional punters – who identified MBL kicking in earlier as a key priority.
